UN Condemns US for its Human Rights Violations!
Sanctions sought against Cities, Counties
The United Nations Commission on Clean Water, Sanitation, and Poverty concluded that major cities in the United States were some of the worst Human Rights violators, due to restricting poor people's access to drinking water, proper toilets, and criminalizing the failure to pay rent. Investigator Caterina de Albuquerque, working for the UN, visited many US cities in late February and found them in violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, for the reasons stated. Legal action and/or sanctions are pending, the local (US) fight being spearheaded by Eric Tars, Human Rights Program Director for the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty. Official statistics show 700,000 homeless that actually reside permanently on streets and sidewalks, with a probable 21 million who can wear the label "homeless", total. Skid Row, in Los Angeles, is listed as the meanest city in the world.
Police Beat & Kill Unarmed Homeless Man for No Reason
FBI Investigation Continues
According to the New York Times, Aug. 4, Page A17, police in Fullerton, suburbran Los Angeles (Orange County), are being investigated for the improper and brutal death of Kelly Thomas, a local homeless man. One City Council member has called for the Chief of Police to resign. The incident was recorded both by independent press photographers and by surveilance video cameras. Five of the officers involved have been placed on Administrative Leave, and the sixth was already on same due to a previous incident.
Rumor Mill Tries to scuttle nets
Nonprofits, Providers Told Lies
Efforts to network the service providers and nonprofit organizations have been hampered by several undercover operatives telling lies to principals and major operators within those orgs. The scam goes like this: "Harvey's organization says terrible things about you guys at Mike's Social Services." Then, a trip to Harvey's to say that Mike's is bad-rapping them. As for me, I criticize everyone constructively, in the San Diego Homeless News. As for truth, nobody is really saying anything bad about any other provider.

Man sells food pantry goods on trolley, buys cocaine
Same man stole this website's computer and camera gear
Wednesday after the main Chula Vista meal for the poor and homeless, a local serial perpetrator who obtained free food at that meal from the Food Pantry sold it on the San DiegoTrolley. Crossing the Border, he purchased cocaine with the money.
Supportive, Subsidized, and Affordable Housing Fail
None are viable option for the homeless
Once the mainstay of those earning poverty wages, HUD Section 8 demanded 20% of a poor person's income for rent. That plan worked, but much has changed even in the past year. The REAL INFLATION RATE for poor people is more than ten times the rate for average people. And, most so-called "affordable" programs now demand 30% of wages for rent, too. Add it all up, and the fact is this: Poor people cannot afford any money at all from their shrinking income for rent.
The things bought by poor people, such as the 50-cent per loaf bread, now cost double. Regular non-poor people bought the three-dollar bread and still do. Half-dollar coffee, also a homeless and poor staple used as an appetite suppressant and antidepressant, now costs triple.Bank fees are no longer free. ATM use is no longer half a dollar, either. Poor people do not use gasoline, but use such things as knockoff-brand Spam meat, once 88 cents as recently as one year ago, now over two dollars. Most ordinary people used the real Spam brand, which was three dollars and now approaches four. Hot dog buns, same problem. The Poor Man's Market Basket has seen 40% APR inflation for years, and now the poor barely have enough money to survive, without paying any rent at all.
Housing is a "feel good" or comfort item, as opposed to being necessary for survival, like food and medicine. It is therefore what poor people do without. One man put it very well when he said, "If you don't want me to be homeless, don't force me to go without housing." That sums it up.

Google Defames Editor
Link Calls Nazi-Fighter Kitchin a Nazi
Google, on its website, displayed a swastika and the words "Reich Master" next to the name of John Kitchin, the publisher of this website and newspaper. Obviously intentional, perhaps Google is trying to discredit a popular blogger who opposes "Nazi greed" and control of our present society by people who do not care about the poor at all. Kitchin has, among other things, indicated that technology causes unemployment and lack of non-technical jobs.
An advocate for the San Diego Homeless, Kitchin is in the process of seeking legal counsel for what he believes to be clear and intentional libel, possibly slander (criminal). He has likened many of the things happening today in government to the early days of Hitler. He has also indicated that a lot of the banking activity against housing the homeless, such as the use of Credit Scores to deny someone housing forever, is a Nazi type activity, and many in the business are both Nazis and Jews at the same time! He does not mention names, unless the person is in public office, and always permits their response to be published.
(Google has since removed the Swastika, but not the words "Reich Master" next to Kitchin's name on its web link.)
County Still Trying to Equate Homeless and Mental Illness!
Propaganda Abuses Taxpayer Money
And we wonder why the government is so broke? I wonder how they are able to operate at all. The San Diego County group that calls itself "Housing Matters", an indirect division operated by San Diego County Government, has a media campaign touting the link between homelessness and mental illness. That is true, but they seem to want to make people think that mental illness causes homelessness. Everyone knows that it is the other way around, and homelessness causes mental illness. If you want fewer people made mentally ill by homelessness, you need fewer homeless. Very simple.
UPDATE: Since the on-line publication of the above, the radio commercial used by HHSA (County Health and Human Services Agency) now claims 8,500 homeless, with 25% mentally ill, an improvement in truth. The URBAN, ON-STREET San Diego homeless population is 8 to 10 thousand, so if you define homelessness as only those people currently on the street in Urban San Diego, then that is a correct figure. And, 25% is a fair estimate of the percentage of mentally ill. Given subsidized housing, they are still homeless, just in a different class.
I want to thank the San Diego County Board for improving the truthfulness of its ad. And, it is to our advantage to have the public consider subsidized housing a viable alternative. It is, for those who have been on the streets long enough to develop severe mental illness.
Voter Registration Planned
First Lutheran Charity to meet with volunteers
TACO, the Third Avenue Charitable Organization of the First Lutheran Church, Third Avenue at Ash, Downtown San Diego, will be registering poor and homeless voters, in an attempt to get some representation for us in the City Council and the State Government. Long a suggestion of this website as something needing to be done, we applaud these efforts. The first organizational meeting is this coming Monday, August 8, at 3 PM. Dinner served afterwards at 4:00.
Law Clinic Forming
Girls Think Tank plans free legal help
The Girls Think Tank, in addition to free distribution of summer-items backpacks Saturday, August 6, will be setting up law clinics to help homeless and poor with their lawyer needs. Volunteer lawyers are sought. The group also plans a membership drive and party for mid-October, around Oct. 10, World Homeless Day (last year about 400 people attended.) They plan to speak to the City Council in San Diego at the morning session of Sept. 20. about the new toilets that the group got the City to approve forthe Downtown, East Village, Barrio Logan, and Little Italy communities. That will make the sidewalks cleaner. Thursday's meeting featured two lawyers, a judge, 5 prominent citizens, and 6 homeless people at the same table.

City owes us each $200 for stealing our stuff
If the police committed armed robbery against you and took all of your belongings, you need to file papers with Dave Ross, the Water Man, at the Water Man Check-In Center, 9th and E. Breaking: This Website Robbed!
Cameras, Digital Equipment Taken
Sunday, July 3, 2011, I had breakfast at the Salvation Army and my black backpack with motion picture, still picture, thumb drive, memory card, site data, site cards, etc., was stolen. Within two hours I had my first solid lead, a man who got onto the trolley, took one look at me, and ran. The Salvation Army security cameras probably have the act, and he made it look like he accidentally took the wrong bag. Wrong.
He is seen at a lot of the South Bay, Old Town, and Downtown meals, and I may publish his photo here. Taken: A black Girls Think Tank backpack, "Trailmaker", with parts of the letters blacked out by magic marker so it says "TailNaked". My pun. Double zipper top, one zipper back pouch. Inside, a second pack, blue, draw-string type like a duffle bag. Two cameras, one still and one motion picture, memory cards, thumb drive for the website, camera tripod, metal cup, cookstove, Soviet Army cranklight flashlight (priceless), tarp, NZ9F placard, sunscreen, sterno fuel, and batteries. Replacement value, $600 to $800, especially since the thumb drive has 3 years of needed data.
I even lost the paper version of the San Diego Homeless News for July, just out. I was intentionally targeted because of who and what I am. The man who ran was either the culprit, or involved in the theft and knows who was. This was no accident.
Theft Investigation:Well, I did that for 8 years as a detective, so I guess I get my own case. There is a suspect, and I will propose he be placed on the Homeless Watch List, a list of offenders and perpetrators. I see him a lot. I followed the rules of the Salvation Army and left my backpack in the designated area, causing it to be stolen. The area exists because in the past they have been sued because of people tripping over backpacks. What I found in my investigation will make you PUKE:
I was targeted intentionally because of my activism, and my successes. This was done to slow me down and discourage me. This was part of an organized effort to de-stabilize any and all of the various homeless leaders.
The latest? I learned that when I was stabbed and robbed last October, it was the same organized terrorist group. That happened in Tijuana, and was investigated by the Baja California State Police. They spoke of ties to Organized Crime and the Tijuana Police, but this is now even more interesting.
Just like there are "snitches" within all jails, who are actually cops, we have that sort of thing here. This group is shills, hired by City Redevelopment, the Housing Commission, the Republican Political Party, various lobbyist groups in banking-construction-real estate, several religious groups, and many of the nonprofits. They are a secret gnosis group. Illegal? Not on the surface, and no one can prove that any unlawful orders were given to anyone.
Do not blow your cover as an Ancient Pagan, and above all do nothing illegal, but your help is needed here. That, as you know, is how this stuff goes.
Border ProtestsDecry Violence
Complaint:Too Much Force by Border Agents
Protesters on both sides of the border complained about the death of a Mexican National attempting to enter the country illegally, who threw rocks at a Border Patrol agent and was shot. Having been a cop, lived in Mexico several years, dealing with the Border Partol daily, and now an activist for Civil Rights, I have an unusual perspective. I blame the news media.

Downtown Partnership Meets With Homeless Leader
Web Page and Constructive Dialogue Results
I met with the Downtown Partnership (Clean and Safe) regarding certain issues that might be resolvable if only they and the homeless understood oneanother better. I do teach two courses in the San Diego homeless situation, and this prompted a new course, Milwaukee Free University course D4-660, San Diego Homeless StudiesFor Doctoral Candidates, available free on-line. This course is NOT for anyone with less than a Master's Degree.
Additional material is available for the General Public, however, including a brand new web page at www.NZ9F.com/Home/Downtown. The Clean and Safe icon takes you there.
NZ9F.com Opens TV Station

First one in history dedicated to the poor
I actually have a television license, and the call letters NZ9F, my Doctorate in Electronic Communications, is a valid FCC callsign assigned to it. Broadcasting is illegal with an amateur license, except educational materials for the use of ham radio operators only. The web, on the other hand, bears no such restrictions. I have broadcast educational courses on the public airwaves in the past, but only Ham Radio instruction. Click on the above icon to go to the television station.

Homeless Board Complains of Poor Treatment by Professionals
Nonprofits & Government Treating Homeless Intellectuals as an Inferior Class of Citizens
A large number of complaints from the rank-and-file homeless about being mistreated by the Downtown Partnership regarding laying on the sidewalks. One man was told to leave, refused (in a nice way)because he was on public property, and a supervisor from the Downtown Partnership told him she was calling the police, because he was "threatening (her) with his body language",Also a lot of ILLEGAL LODGING TICKETS, even after that law was found improper. Does the City follow laws, or only those ones it wants to obey? In response to advanced knowledge of this article, I got the following e-mail:
John I received your article below and would love the opportunity to meet you to discuss the details further. The Downtown San Diego Partnership has been working with Common Ground in an effort to offer housing and supportive services to the most vulnerable within the homeless community of Downtown San Diego. In our attempts, however, to marshal the necessary organizations together in a collective effort, we have not had a voice from the homeless community at the table. I think this is a great opportunity to do so, and I would greatly appreciate your help with this endeavor.
Please contact me via email or phone to discuss further. Bahija Hamraz, Downtown San Diego Partnership
So, there is hope. I suggest placing myself (John Kitchin) and Melanie Stewart on the Board. Getting back to what is happening, it is even more disturbing is that the Homeless Board of Directors is complaining about treatment as inferior citizens by those nonprofits and government groups who supposedly are helping the homeless. This includes not only the government propaganda nonprofits, and the "fake" money-oriented nonprofits, but also the umbrella groups, such as Girls Think Tank. This is the first complaint of this kind, but the sentiment of the Board was unanimous. Our take is that even the umbrella groups have a special disdain for highly intelligent persons who happen to be homeless, especially well-dressed individuals.
There was also a complaint that the ideas of the intellectual homeless were adopted by both government and the umbrella groups, as being their own ideas, and without giving any credit to the homeless who actually came up with those ideas. I pointed out that we are in a good position if it is us doing the idea proposing, regardless of where credit is given. The point however, was that we are being marginalized in order to keep the prevailing appearance, as stupid as it is, that we are mentally ill, dope addicts, alcoholics, etc.
As far as what action is to be taken, the umbrella nonprofits have provided us with some support, and some connection with the fake nonprofits (so that we can educate them), and so our continued participation in the umbrella orgs is called for. They do not, however, come up with any real new ideas, nor do they accomplish anything, so that will have to be our task. I was upset that after calling for new legal clinics, the Girls Think Tank promptly put the idea on hold, and no one was assigned to do any of the leg-work. So, I established Law Page on the Homeless Website, www.NZ9F.com/Law.
All of this got resolved recently - see the GTT Meeting article, below.
What we need now is a law like in Florida prohibiting Hate Crimes against homeless, and establishing us as a group which cannot be discriminated against. Housing Discrimination gets to be permanent, once you are homeless, because you no longer qualify for housing. So, a Housing Discrimination Law prohibiting discrimination against persons who are not currently housed. I made the comment in my Yahoo! News article about the David Ross WaterMan Police Brutality Trial that some of the City's comments in the trial would probably get their lawyers disbarred in Florida. Time for homeless protection laws here!
New Web Pages: Law, Mental Health, Web Publishing
Homeless Website offers additional resources

New Logo of the San Diego Homeless Website at NZ9F.com
The new Law Page, mentioned in the above article, has a pretty good overview of legal resources available to indigent clients, plus information for lawyers on how to volunteer to help. It was researched entirely on the web, and has a long way to go, but is probably the best single source of first-contact information for San Diego poor needing legal work.
The All Stars Page was recently updated, listing the best of the nonprofits, so that people donate moneyto organizations that use it wisely.
Mental Health Pageis being written, starting witha realistic view of the situation, and then continuing with ways of getting help, treatment, and becoming more whole. Written by a psychologist that takes exception to the way most poor are treated by the mental health system. "The real lunatics are those who treat the mentally ill and pretend they care, but do not." Tells how to deal with a system that rewards shoddy diagnosis and abysmal care by making hospitals and doctors rich and patients worse off than with no care at all.
Publication Help is a page for webmasters of all stripes (primarily amateur)that provides a resource for obtaining clip art, photo editing, typing over pictures, and similar sorts of web publication stuff. Can also be used to edit or type over pictures for Facebook, or your own albums. Has a few features not found elsewhere on-line. Your blog or poor person website can use this web help. Has a rack of ready-to-download buttons, for example.
GTT Meeting Notes
Many Projects Ongoing - Law Clinic Resumes
Summer backpacks will be distributed in July or August, according to the Girls Think Tank, at the June 2 meeting of the Coalition For Basic Dignity. The next meeting, July 7, will be in Ocean Beach, not Downtown San Diego. A party is planned for October. The Portland Loos toilet project is stalled, but Marti Emerald of the San Diego City Council has promised to help get the project rolling. The City already approved adding toilets to Downtown, East Village, and Little Italy. Emerald is a member of this group.
Law clinics are again planned, with participation from California Western School of Law.The Girls Think Tank is mostly lawyers, plus a few judges, politicians, and media, and its new legal clinic is called ACLAIM, which stands for Active Community Legal Advocacy Ideas in Motion. Lawyers may join or volunteer by contacting info@GirlsThinkTank.org.Currently, in addition to law clinics, a new Homeless Bill of Rights is being developed with help from ACLU.
There is also a local artist who wishes to set up videos of our local homeless, and his project is called (IN)Visible.

Water Man and Isaiah Project
Dave Gets Arrested Objecting to Police
Per usual, David Ross, the San Diego Water Man, chewed out the cops for using foul language when talking to a woman, and they arrested him for interfering with police work. The legal issue is whether a citizen can complain about something they see the police do that is clearly improper. Ross admits he interfered more than he should. He has this idea that the police are super-people, better than most, because they put their lives on the line to protect us. Whenever he sees cops do something he considers shoddy, he raises hell. Great thinking, but poor timing. When the police are busy, let them do their work, okay, Dave?
Along with his partner, Gerry Limpic, David Ross runs the Isaiah Project, a tax-exempt charity that has two impacts, one called Basic Needs and the other Water Man Check-In Center. Basic Needs hands out drinking water to those who need it, plus provides toilets. The Check-In Center provides storage for the posessions of the downtown homeless. Between the two, Ross and Limpic keep 120 tons of pee and poop off the streets annually, plus thousands of collections of belongings that would be stored on the sidewalks in an unsightly manner.
Dave's website is at www.HelpTheWaterMan.com.

Neal Good Funding Restored!!
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the City Housing Commission and the Community Block Grant Development Program found $500,000 to fund the Neal Good Center for the Poor and Homeless, our local "Poor House" for the coming year. Funding had been cut, even though the Center is one of only a few absolutely essential services for the poorest of the poor. Thanks need to go out to Mayor Sanders, the City Council, San Diego Police, the FBI, the Obama Administration, Governor Jerry Brown, the California State Legislature, News 10 Television San Diego, and the Union Tribune for their efforts on making this happen.
A rare declared State of Emergency, it is hopeful no such thing ever happens again. Neal Good is an essential part of making what scant resources San Diego dedicates to is massive homeless population actually help. I was deeply involved in the process, and bear the blame of becoming the news rather than reporting it, but in an emergency, go with what works. Why me? Years as a Red Cross or ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) EC (Emergency Coordinator) handling disasters and other emergencies. I twisted arms inside a number of secret organizations that control society. No details available, as I brag too much anyway, necessary due to the beating I often take in public perception.
I am at peace with God, society, humankind, the universe, and myself, and very few people can make that claim honestly. I recently wrote, "Becoming homeless has been the greatest thing that ever happened to me in my life, resulting in immense personal growth, satisfaction, and accomplishment, beyond anything which I believed myself capable of."
State of Emergency Note: Only the following are considered a valid emergency: 1.) Father Joe's Lunch threatened. 2.) Winter Shelter threatened. 3.) Neal Good Center threatened. 4.) Armed Insurrection or rioting threatened.

Neal Good Funding Cancelled!!
According to sources within the Girls Think Tank,San Diego Housing administrator Cissy Fisher said that no fundingwas found for Neal Goodfrom any available sources. This would mean that the center, one of three absolutely essential programs for survival without violent struggle and great loss by everyone, especially the City, is being threatened. Private finance sources were suggested, such as the United Way or Red Cross.
The San Diego police have objected to the closing of Neal Good, as same would make their work extremely more difficult in terms of keeping order. It is used, among other things, for a convenient place to lock up hundreds of people for short periods of time to calm down, preventing riots. Its huge iron gates have occasionally been closed, locking the homeless in, only briefly.
In terms of survival and possible employment, the closing of the California EDDemployment help centers has resulted in few choices for those looking for work. Neal Good is used by the poor and homeless to take a shower before going in for a job interview, charge cell phones in order to keep in touch with potential employers, receive mail from possible employers, and watch the television news to see who may be hiring. The local Classified Ads regarding jobs are also widely circulated there.
Without it, homeless would be all over the streets, creating a problem for the banking, business, and tourism sectors. Also, the center has some of the few existing toilets, and doing without them would compound the already problematic situation of more human manure on the sidewalks. Do we want to be known as America's Swinest City?
On the issue of security and peace, versus violence and struggle, Neal Good is one of three essential units, the other two being the Father Joe's Lunch and the Winter Shelter. If funding money is needed, Good uses about half a million dollars a year, mostly for security guards, and could either become an overnight campground (thus eligible for housing money) or how about taking the money away from the $32 million PATH Connections Housing World Trade Center waste? 32 million being spent on a project nobody wants nor will use would fund Neal Good for 64 years, or expand it to 24/7 operations for 32 years at a million dollars a year.
The reason our governments are so short of money is that they spend money on such useless and ridiculous things as the "one stop shop" notion which has already failed elsewhere. Will we ever learn to be frugal and spend tax dollars on that which we need? Lower taxes is wonderful, but getting something useful for those taxes already levied is just as important. Who would ever believe that the liberal editor would be delivering such a conservative message. I guess we all grow up, eventually.
