The truth about dope, and why your children need to know this, instead of all the bullshit that is ordinarily fed to them on the topic. Professor John Kitchin, NZ9F, Milwaukee Free University.
Milwaukee Free University specializes in subjects that are forbidden, taboo, or unusual, such as unusual perspectives, religion, sex, politics, government corruption, anti-governmental views, and anti-religious views. All of it is an alternate look, but a valid one. Conventional universities get their money from governments and rich people and are biased by the hand that feeds them.
Children learn that their parents are liars. They lie about sex, they lie about drugs, they maybe even lie about God. Parents want their children to have a better life than they did, and try to skew the odds by telling lies both to their children and themselves. Well-intentioned, but not effective. Children are curious about many things, including sex and dope, and will definitely experiment and not tell you about it. Most kids have used some dope by the age of 12. Sorry. Bury your head in the sand and ignore the problem, so maybe it will go away.
My approach is to be entirely honest, so that your children do not learn that you lie about this sort of thing. Let them read this, and then talk to you about it. I was a hippie, and when everyone else in college was touting sex and dope, I instead majored in them. They are both legitimate topics of study. I was a slow learner on the forbidden stuff, so I learned about sex and dope in college...classes, not parties. I went to plenty of both, too.
Generally people who use drugs to get high are trying to find a solution to their problems, but not finding any. If we help them resolve their real issues, dope use goes away or never begins in the first place. If we instead concentrate on getting them off dope, rather than resolving the problems that cause their drug use, they just pick up a different drug habit, or worse, such as a crime habit.
So, if we are not careful, we will end a drug habit, only to have the person rob banks instead. Or, maybe eat 600 donuts per day. Substituting in a good habit, however, is fine. Get addicted to bowling instead of heroin. Some addictions even pay good. Tiger Woods got addicted to golf at a very young age. I got addicted to learning. Either of us could have instead become addicted to barbiturates. Get the concept? Removal of the drug habit is dangerous without first substituting in a different behavior! No longer addicted to cocaine, fictional character James now molests and kills children instead.
In practice, it takes both one or two substitute behaviors, plus ironing out some problems, to be effective. I will now list some drugs and their characteristics. For most of you, this will be the first time you have ever been presented with the truth. I start with the most dangerous, marijuana, followed by the most addictive, caffeine.
Marijuana is the most dangerous narcotic, only because it is not considered to be that. More powerful than alcohol, marijuana is a mild hallucinogen that is an insecticide and sunscreen provided by the marijuana plant, a weed related to manila hemp, used to make rope. It is a fibrous plant, like cotton, although also edible.
Easy to grow, marijuana was cultivated in the East for thousands of years to act as a religious tool for prayer. THC, or tetra-hydro-cannabinol, the black resin made by the plant that is the active hallucinogenic ingredient, is hardened into sticks of hashish, pure marijuana resins. Remove most of the water from wine, and it is brandy. Remove most of the water from beer, and it is whiskey. Remove most of the plant material from marijuana, and it is hashish. Hindu temples smoke it to this day. Helps them get the feeling that God is present.
THC builds up in fatty tissue, brain cells, and sex cells (testicles or ovaries), typical of any insecticide. It causes miscarriages, stillbirths, hallucinations, lung cancer, problems with libido (sex drive), diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, fainting, memory loss, and birth defects. Fortunately, all of these are rare except in chronic users.
Marijuana makes people think that their sex drive is heightened, but it is not. What really happens is that your sex drive becomes normal when high on pot, but abnormally absent once you come down. In time, marijuana makes your sex drive go away, where you need to be high on it to have any sex drive at all. THC bonds with fat, so that even if you have not had any marijuana in awhile, losing weight releases the drug from your fat tissue when those fat cells dissolve.
Its long-term dangers mirror alcohol in scope and nature. Some people become alcoholics, and some become pot-heads. The more you use of either one, the bigger the risk of health problems, job problems, relationship problems, family problems, auto accidents, the same stuff. Marijuana is often compared to alcohol along these risk lines. It is true that your kid smoking a joynt is no worse than drinking two shots of booze. The really dangerous problem is when people get drunk and stoned at the same time. Then, they often kill people. Party, fun----Life in jail, not fun.
Most generally, kids experiment with pot, check it out for a few days or weeks or months or years, do not get addicted, and stop using it because it doesn't do anything that they want done. It makes you feel funny. It makes it harder to remember what you studied and pass the test in school. It makes you hungry all the time ("munchies") and you get fat!
Kids are smart enough to figure out that grass is for 10-year-olds and adults just have better stuff, like sex, skydiving, scuba, and volleyball. It takes a pretty brainless kid to be still smoking pot by age 19 or 20. Such a child has a mental health problem.
As far as child brain development, the truth is that marijuana may be of slight benefit to that, but not much. No long-term bad stuff. Yes, there are a thousand professors who lie about that, getting paid to do so. Big money in Global Warming studies, too. The university grant money is in the mail.
Caffeine is the most addictive drug out there, and fortunately it is widely available 24 hours, relatively mild in effects, inexpensive, and rarely causes such psychiatric conditions such as Amphetamine Psychosis. We unfortunately give this drug to our children in the form of soft drinks, especially colas, although many other soft drinks contain it, as well as energy drinks. Bad idea, bad addiction. More difficult to quit than tobacco, cocaine, or methamphetamine. In children, very bad for brain development. Causes genetic mutations, heart attacks, developmental disabilities. In prolonged overuse, can cause Amphetamine Psychosis, not curable, Meth Disease.

TOBACCO is the toughest drug to quit, except the two that are virtually unstoppable, the opiates and caffeine. The primary active drug ingredient in tobacco, nicotine, is an insecticide produced by the tobacco plant. As with any insecticide, there is buildup in sex cells, brain cells, and fat cells, so losing weight can get you high onnicotine when fat cells get dissolved. Native American Indians used tobacco for thousands of years in conjunction with their religions, to cause calmness, mild hallucinogenic euphoria, feelings of peace, harmony with nature, and feelings of the presence of God. It was also used to control and addict people, because you needed to go to "church" to get your tobacco that you were addicted to. The medicine man had it, and church was an outdoor holy area.
Smoked in long pipes, known as peace pipes, tobacco ceremonies were used to confirm legal deals, patch friendships gone bad, and settle disputes. Much like a courtroom today.
Smoking tobacco results in health problems such as emphysema, cancer (mouth, lips, tongue, stomach, kidneys, lungs, prostate, uterus, brain), genetic DNA damage, permanent changes in mental processes (brain damage), temporary changes in food processing (digestion), and more. It is taxed and regulated for that reason.
Tobacco had much to do with the 13 United British Colonies of America becoming rich and famous, because by the 1600s most of Europe was addicted to it. The experts at cultivation andprocessing, as well as the land to grow it, were in America. The number 1 export for generations.
In the 1940s huge amounts of money were invested in university grants and television propaganda commercials touting the health benefits of smoking. All of the celebrity spokespersons, most notably Arthur Godfrey and George Goebel, would end up dying from lung cancer. The battle continued in the legal system where for over 30 years nobody could prove tobacco caused any harm. Those who could met an untimely death and their research was destroyed. No proof of either. Welcome to the real world. Asbestos was touted for its wonderful health effects, too. Breathe it in deep, just like cigarettes, to toughen your lungs. Isn't it great to feel healthy?
Today tobacco is used to addict people to alcoholic beverages, plus to control inmates in mental health hospitals. Cooperate or you do not get your addictive drug. Nicotine withdrawls are very severe, worse than any other drug except opiates (which cannot ever be withdrawn from) because nicotine alters the digestive system. Three months of indigestion results from attempting withdrawl. This results in overeating to calm the stomach, which sends hunger signals constantly, and people often gain weight. Often those leaving a nicotine addiction pick up a food or sugar addiction instead.
A nicotine patch does not help, merely prolonging addiction. The only way to quit is by complete withdrawl, and the cigarette companies, knowing this, back the patch plans. Giving up smoking means three months of digestive hell and nausea. All else makes quitting not occur. Studies indicating that nicotine improves memory are fake. Many a doctor has endorsed cigarettes for their health benefits, in the 1940s.
Memory enhancement can be had from ADD drugs, Alzheimers drugs, and Medical Spirituality (Gnosis or Tantra) if needed, not from nicotine! I overcame tobacco addiction by drinking huge amounts of flavored no-calorie carbonated water (such as Perrier Lime) for 4 months, plus antacids such as Tums and Tagamet. Plenty of rest, limit food intake, and above all, NO ALCOHOL. Use of alcohol begs alcoholism. Substitute a different mind absorbing behavior having nothing to do with food, such as surfing, video games, or tennis.
Smoking helps to brainwash or socialize people, changing their brain chemistry in such a way as to make them more susceptible to false advertising, schemes, scams, and lies. Smoking marijuana works even better as a tool for control.

Heroin and the Opiates include Oxycontin, Opium, Methadone, Codeine, Morphine, Hydrocodone, and Vicadin, and are the only drugs that you can never be cured of addiction to. Become an addict, and your brain chemistry will be permanently altered forever, requiring you to use these drugs the rest of your life, just to feel normal at all. You are in constant emotional pain, lifetime, with nothing that helps except more dope.
Legal until the early 1900s for anyone to purchase and use, opiates were used for pain, relaxation, and sleep. They are still used to suppress pain, and codeine is used to suppress coughs. Many great pundits such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes) were addicted. Cocaine was also legal, and often combined with heroin.
The opium poppy, shown in the thumbnail, Papaver Somniferum, produces a sap like tree sap that is dried to form heroin. Opium can be smoked like crack or marijuana, popular in China for thousands of years, or it can be eaten, or injected in a purified form. Its active ingredients are codeine and morphine. Both alleviate pain, but codeine is better at eliminating a cough or making you sleep, while morphine kills pain better.
All true poppies produce opium, just not very much of it. The California Poppy is not a poppy at all, but a plant that looks similar. Heroin is a brown tar-like substance that is dried into a powder called mud or horse. Pharmaceutical heroin, used where it is legal, such as Holland or China, is purified and is a white substance. Heroin produced in a laboratory by chemical synthesis, instead of in a poppy, is called Methadone. It is the same thing.
Heroin acts by duplicating the action of natural brain chemicals that the body produces to control pain. Too much of these substances causes euphoria (getting "high") and wonderful feelings. This is why people start to use it. Unfortunately, within 3 to 6 months, there is no more euphoria, no high, plus people are addicted for life. Not using heroin produces horrific withdrawl pains, and the only known way to make those pains go away, is to use more dope. Imagine having to inject it not to get high but just to survive! An addict feels so uncomfortable without heroin that they will kill their own children to get some, or cut off their own legs, just for a fix. Even so, it does not make them high at all, after the first 6 months, just addicted.
Possibly the worst addiction in the world. That makes it ideal for controlling people, but leads to a huge crime problem to get money to buy it. An addict will kill you, take your money, and buy a bag, even if that will result in his or her death as a result of having killed you. It is just that addictive. You personally would do the same thing, trust me. Control of heroin addiction consists of giving former addicts methadone (heroin) for life, every day. Unfortunately, it is now sold to young children in Mexico by agents of US political parties, to recruit gang members and raise money.
Political television ads in Mexico decry the practice, but it continues today. This leads to the Knights Templar and the Masons (the Protestant Mafia) being considered a terrorist group in Mexico, because they and their US Republican Party are involved. The US Democratic party is also involved, by the way. Politicians have admitted all this on Mexican television, so everyone there knows. It is the 4-way fight between M, the Mexican Mob, the Knights Templar and Masons, the Jewish Mafia (which owns all of Mexico) and the Italian (Catholic) Mafia that causes the drug wars and gets a lot of people killed.
Unfortunately, the violence spreads across the border, and all of the Mafias have US affiliates. That is where the street gangs come from, using heroin addiction to control members. Kill Officer Johnson, Jimmy, and you get your bag of heroin.

Alcohol is the most widely-abused drug except for caffeine. The oldest psychotropic, neolithic cave man had booze and knew how to use it. Fermentation occurs naturally and any fruit juice will automatically turn into wine. Alcohol and humans evolved together. The strains of yeast which ferment wine live in the human reproductive system, being held in check by our immune systems. Like the e-coli which help our digestive systems, yeast is a beneficial and necessary bacteria in our bodies.
The earliest intentional manufacture of wine was the mead industry, honey with water added and fermented. This was done by priests, who held the secret of how to make it ferment quickly into wine. They knew where yeast came from. Alcohol manufacture led to the monasteries, where grapes were grown to make wine. Life was okay, as a priest could stay high on alcohol and love at the same time. Monasteries eventually used the same yeast to ferment bread dough, and thousands of years later this led to the eucharistic media being bread and wine. Still manufactured today, it is called "monastic" if the old-fashioned way of adding yeast is used.
Alcohol causes problems concentrating, memory loss, lessening of pain, euphoria, poor motor skills, delayed reaction time, birth defects, mutation of DNA, vomiting, nausea, hangover, gastric difficulties, delerium tremens (acute alcohol physical addiction), auto accidents, machinery accidents, violence, marital and emotional problems, spousal abuse, crime, poverty, impaired judgement, suppression of areas of the brain dealing with morality, employment and motivational problems, colon cancer, addiction, lower-emotional desires (sex instead of love or companionship), reduced sex drive, and more.
It is regulated everywhere, primarily licensed, taxed, and age-restrictred. Alcohol causes huge problems for society, but all attempts to ban it proved unsuccessful. We humans evolved along with booze, and it is here to stay. All ancient cultures had it, for as long as there have been humans, and even before. Apes had alcohol, and still do.
I am a brewmaster, so I will try to stay on point. Widely available, ethyl alcohol has traditional uses in medicine (sleep, pain, sterility), traditional religious uses, and to this day is used as an anti-bacterial agent in hand cleaners. Good call as it is an excellent solvent, and quite edible. Probably better than fictional 3-alpha-9-lambda-poco-techo-8-lake-propiniol. A shot of that stuff on the rocks would probably be dangerous.
The causes of alcoholism are unknown, but is is likely that people become alcoholics as opposed to addicts of other drugs because of the legality and availability of booze. All drug abuse, of course, including alcoholism, is a mental illness and must always be treated as such. Substitute something else for the dope, before withdrawing it.
Fortunately, alcohol has no permanent nor physical addiction in most people, no withdrawl symptoms except a hangover caused by it blocking anti-diuretic hormone (dehydration), and the only thing needed is some rest, sleep, and peace. England's Winston Churchill said "Drink is the curse of the Working Class", to which comedian W.C. Fields replied, "Work is the curse of the Drinking Class."
Alcohol is probably a loss over gain for society, but benefit can be had when used properly, like any drug. There is no increased "benefit" from euphoria past 2 drinks, and this is not commonly known. Alcohol confuses your brain into thinking that drinking more than that will feel even better, even though it just makes you sick. You think, incorrectly, that you feel better. Being drunk makes you think that you are having a better time than you actually are, and are more high and less sick than you actually are.
What we need is a placebo rack of booze bottles in bars, containing no liquor but flavoring as if they did, so that drunk people can watch as fake liquor goes into a glass. The bar charges the same price, people get less sick, all win-win.
My treatment for alcoholism substitutes flavored carbonated water, such as Perrier Lime, with ice and a twist of citrus. Play chess, play video games, get exercise. I had a treadmill connected to a television set, where you pedal bike pedals to generate electricity for the TV. This setup could be used for weight loss, too. Giving up alcohol, avoid food and caffeine, or they will stubstitute in as addictions.
Barbiturates, also called depressants or downers, suppress the activity of the brain, calming and slowing you down. The oldest is phenobarbitol, and the barbs are higher alcohol derivitives. More powerful than booze, but with the same treatment plan(almost) of alcoholism, downer addicts behave exactly like alcoholics. Withdrawl from barbiturates, however, must be gradual because abrupt withdrawl causes death. These drugs have been used by secret organizations to control members, who must do as ordered or die from not getting their dose.
Overdoses of barbiturates are universally fatal, as they bind with proteins and so no replacement of bodily fluids will help. That and the euphoria with rapid loss of consciousness makes this the drug of choice for suicides. There is no antidote whatsoever. An overdose of barbiturates is as fatal as decapatation, although not quite as quick. These are the drugs used along with potassium to execute inmates on Death Row.
Potassium Pentathol would be both fast and humane to die from, and the potassium would stop your heart while the pentathol barbiturate spaced you out. Barbs cause brain damage, liver and kidney failure, physical addiction, loss of motor control, unconsciousness, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, malaise, birth defects, genetic damage, inability to think, hypnotic behaviors, and motivational losses. Unlike opiates, recovery is possible and even probable. The good news is that most people recover completely from barbiturate addiction with no permanent damage! One overdose and you die, however, so caution is indicated.

Cocaine, and similar drugs such as GHB and Ecstacy, have potential benefits along with huge possible problems. The drug cocaine has been used for over 100 years to kill local pain, such as in numbing a tooth, plus in psychiatry, where in the brain cocaine acts the opposite. I used cocaine to suppress my ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and Autism before better drugs, such as Strattera, were invented. Cocaine was legal to buy and sell without any permit until the early 1900s, and Coca-Cola was originally a mixture of carbonated water, sugar, cola nut extractives, and pure cocaine.3 ounces (25 ml?) for 5 cents, one hour's wages, perhaps $15 today.
Touted by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (who wrote Sherlock Holmes) as a possible cure for heroin addiction, it was eventually discovered that cocaine can cause Amphetamine Psychosis, meth disease, when you use too much too often. From that time on, heavy regulation.
Cocaine mirrors neurotransmitters used in brain activation, peppiness, plus some used in the reward and pleasure system. It causes great awakeness, attention, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, improved memory, difficulties sleeping, more stamina, better motor skills, better judgement, increased attention to detail, liver damage, kidney damage, heart damage, financial difficulties due to expense, legal problems, emotional addiction, and more. Addicts use cocaine for the "flash" caused when it stimulates all of your pleasure nerves at once, a whole-body orgasm.
Cocaine cures (more like treats) ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder, but the addiction, expense, and legal problems are hell. Strattera is cocaine with the addictive and euphoric contents snipped right off of the molecule. You cannot get high on it, except your first dose ever in your lifetime. You also do not get addicted, but abrupt withdrawl usually causes suicide. Going the reverse direction, instead of snipping off the euphoric (high) portion of cocaine, what if that is the only part of the drug we use? That is called the drug Ecstacy, which acts exactly like cocaine.
The problem with all of the cocaine derivatives, (except Strattera that has its euphoric functions deleted), is that users burn out the pleasure centers of the brain! A whole-body orgasm is a great thing, but when you burn out all the pleasure centers from over-use, you can never have any sort of pleasure from anything again, the rest of your life! The nerve cells used in pleasure die, plus the regulatory cells that control the pleasure neuro-transmitters, such as dopamine. Overdose causes convulsions and death, generally from stroke or heart attack. Cocaine group drugs destroy the liver and kidneys over time, and other than amoxetine (Strattera) cause Amphetamine Psychosis in time, meth disease. That has no cure nor treatment.
Surgeons use cocaine when they must have excellent memory and motor skills for many hours on a complex operation. Use too much, however, and you get too high to cut, and the more you use, the bigger your problems become. Cocaine is also used by other professionals to write better, invent better, create better, and far more. John Belushi used it to be a better comedian, but it killed him.
If you are tempted to try coke, try Strattera (Amoxetine) instead, typical ADD drug. It takes 2 hours to absorb after you take the pills for 125 mg.(thin) to 140 mg. (medium) build. 300 mg. can kill you. You cannot snort it, as it is manufactured as a caustic hydroxide, to keep you from doing that. It does, therefore, upset your stomach. You only get "high" on it once in your life, the first time, but it is a genuine cocaine high!
And if you are a surgeon who must occasionally use cocaine, try Strattera instead. No high, no "rush" (except the first dose ever), and you get the benefits of cocaine such as the stamina, memory, cognition, judgement. Of course, Spirituality, already widely used by the medical profession, works better, if available. Surgery without mistakes is very important, especially to the patient and their family and friends. I am amused that I keep on having to educate the doctors on those topics too taboo for medical school.
LSD and the Hallucinogens may sound like the name of a punk rock band, but this class of drugs is far from fun nor musical. For thousands of years, tribes and religious orders got high on plants. The most common are peyote, the fruit of a common cactus, and psilocybin mushrooms. Mescaline, from another cactus, is also popular, as is Qat, used in the Arab nations.
The grain ergot, once grown similar to wheat, was eventually abandoned from farming it due to various people and cultures getting super-high and even dying from it sometimes when the grain spoiled. Dr. Timothy Leary, investigating for the University of California- Berkeley (San Francisco) discovered that a fungus sometimes grew on ergot, and that fungus produced a hallucinogenic chemical, LSD, or Lysergic Acid Diethylamide.
LSD is a unique experience, because it reworks your brain pathways so that you hear colors, see odors, and smell sounds. Your senses are scrambled, going to the wrong brain input. This is similar to connecting a DVD player or VCR video cable to the audio input of the monitor. The buzzing and humming you hear is "hearing" video. Some smells, tastes, and sounds are visually fascinating. If you want to see what they look like, no need to risk your life taking LSD. Google Images will show you, accurately. http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=es&source=hp&biw=792&bih=426&q=lsd&gbv=2&oq=lsd&aq=f&aqi=g2&aql=&gs_sm=12&gs_upl=2219l2579l0l5344l3l3l0l1l1l0l109l140l1.1l2l0
LSD makes a noise into a kaleidoscope, vivid colors in motion. A toy, perhaps, or novelty, the problem is that people get confused, think that they are an apple falling from a tree, and jump out a window to their death. Using LSD permanently damages your brain for life in just one use. The other hallucinogens, far less powerful, not so. Technically, even marijuana is in this class of drugs, the hallucinogens, but we give it its own category, just like we do not usually call gin a drug, even though it is. Booze is part of the barbiturates, caffeine is part of the amphetamines, and marijuana is part of the hallucinogens. Welcome to reality.
So, magic mushrooms are an intense pot high, and nearly all species of mushrooms contain hallucinogens. The problem is that many mushroom species contain cyanide, too. Or, the hallucinogen they contain may be so powerful that the tiniest amount is a fatal overdose. Hence, we class hallucinogenic mushrooms as "poisonous" ones.
Grown from spores that are everywhere in the universe, mushrooms are a fungus that requires no light, no air, no nothing, because the roots bore into plant or animal material to steal nutrients. Quite probably, mushrooms could live on the moon. Bacteria and viruses are also everywhere in the universe, but mushrooms are edible? Well, we eat bacteria, too, such as yeast, and we grow bacterial colonies in milk to produce yogurt and cheese. Only one virus, DNA, is classed as food, and it is actually a drug, too. Fungi are unique, because they are parasitic.
Children usually play with hallucinogens, have fun, get high, decide that they do not like being high, give all that up, and find better things to play with as adults. Same scenario as marijuana, where if you are still using this stuff by age 18 or 19, you need to go get a life, and see a shrink about your mental illness. Really. Using hallucinogens is a Mental Health problem, not a drug problem.
It is way easier to overdose on mushrooms than marijuana, but other than that, no difference, so no big worry. LSD on the other hand, well, you might as well use poison, because it will give you brain damage. Hope you like your new wheelchair. Like marijuana, the hallucinogens are insecticides produced by plants to guard against bug attacks. So, they accumulate in fat cells, brain cells, and the reproductive system. And, yes, you can hallucinate just by losing weight when the fat cells containing a buildup of these drugs dissolve in your body.
Other than DNA, LSD is the only drug that acts in the microgram level. All other drugs require milligrams (a thousand times bigger) to be effective. A milligram is a thousandth of a gram, and a microgram is a thousandth of a milligram, or a millionth of a gram. Pretty small. A single one-gram pill could be a million doses. So a "poisonous" mushroom may contain two grams of active ingredient, but that may be two million doses, and the overdose kills you. Obviously, no insect eating any small part of that mushroom has a chance. No animal can eat it, either. Understand what this stuff is, and how it works?

Inhalants include solvents, glue, gasoline, and similar substances that are the least expensive ways of getting high. Upper level functions of the brain (such as thinking) are depressed, and the person becomes euphoric, in a state between being awake and asleep, similar to being drunk. One of the most brain-damaging of all possible drug classes, sniffing or huffing results in permanent memory loss, permanent loss of some functions such as motor coordination, brain damage, cancer, lung and kidney damage, permanent reproductive damage, numbness and loss of feeling (permanent), nausea, and decreased intelligence. We will just call you "dummy", and this class of drugs is why we call it "dope". Dope makes you a dope. Prolonged use makes you a vegetable, in a wheelchair. If treated quickly enough in the addiction, there is some hope, but this is a very bad class of drugs to use.

Food can be the most difficult addiction to quit, because you can never completely withdraw yet remain alive. Over millenia of evolution, we apes got programmed to feel pleasure from eating fats, salt, and sugary foods, and we have never shaken that. As a result, our society is fat. We are all born addicted to food, as a survival program. Food as a drug needs to be a "how much" as opposed to a "never" sort of thing, however, regarding food as dope, because complete withdrawl from food produces starvation and death.
Like cocaine, food stimulates the reward or pleasure systems of the brain. Like pleasure from sex, that is all part of life, however, not automatically an addiction. Restaurants are the whorehouses of becoming food-satisfied. Like being sexually satisfied, it feels really nice, but eventually hunger comes back. The connections between food and sex go back millions of years and leaddirectly into the segment on love addiction, which has similarities to them both.
Getting back to food, we have diets to minimize our portliness, trying to shut off our genetic programming to eat. We use drugs to suppress our food drive, such as the stimulants. We establish fast-fix instant-food restaurants, perfect for addicts, and prey upon their addiction quite successfully. Snack food companies do the same thing, as we have pleasure centers in the brain for salt, sweets, and fats. The Hat Trick (Triple Crown) is all 3 in a single unit, such as Beer Nuts (sweet, salt, fat) which is like the drink Rum and Cola, combining carbonation, alcohol, sugar, and caffeine. It goes across addictions, sort of like opiated marijuana with crack cocaine added.
Food addiction causes obesity, heart disease, arterial problems, motivational and mental distress, glandular and enzymatic difficulties, broken chairs, societal outcasting, clothing fit difficulties, loss of stamina, premature aging, joint and limb stress, sexual dysfunction, high blood pressure, diabetes, and gastric distress. All from an addiction we are born with.
Treatments of food addiction are many and varied. Diets, drugs, hypnosis, psychotherapy, exercise, even yoga. My treatment is to do something lots of fun that requires lots of exercise to do it. I go backpack camping and hiking. My camping treatment values the solitude of being on a mountaintop, with mountain streams, scenery, wildlife, quiet, and peace. To get there, you climb a mountain, and must take a lot of heavy equipment if you want to have an easy time. Keeps you in shape when the gym is too boring. I want to see treadmill-generator video games. Almost 60 years old, I can still take a heavy pack up a mountain, which keeps me in shape without being boring at all.

Speed, methamphetamine (meth), benzadrine, Ritalin, Adderall, and even pseudo-ephedrine (Sudafed) or real ephedrine are a class of drugs that pep people up, keep them awake and alert, provide for longer attention spans and greater numbers of waking hours to get things done, increase heart rate and blood pressure, and may temporarily improve memory. They are used by college students to both study for and take exams, and used by long distance truck drivers to stay awake. They are also used for diets, to decrease appetite and/or burn off fat.
These drugs also cause strokes, heart attacks, liver and kidney damage, difficulty sleeping including various sleep disorders, and in high doses, convulsions and death. Hitler's scientists invented meth, and by the end of the war, thousands were addicted. Speed stays in your brain for about 3 days, making it impossible to sleep, but that may allow you to get a load delivered as a truck driver all the way across the country. Coming down is called crashing, and you may sleep for several days.
Over time, speed makes people irritable, assholes, bitchy, mean, selfish, and may lead to Amphetamine Psychosis, meth disease. Not curable, the person loses touch with reality and lives in their own little speed-world.
Years ago I was faced with either death from falling asleep at the wheel on a long trip (no place to stop safely and 40 degrees below zero temperatures) or taking methamphetamine to stay awake and alive. There may be circumstances where you need to sacrifice some of your brain cells to stay alive, such as escaping a military enemy prison camp, but generally there is no valid reason to ever take this class of dope.
Meth will keep you up for 3 days straight, and really messes up your need for sleep. It does not really make you high, either. Addiction comes from it mimicking cocaine a little bit, and partially activating the reward system of the brain. Addicts fight, become mean and violent, and above all become too lazy to work, which causes them to turn to crime.
Treatment that I prefer uses a low end sedative, phenylpropanalamine or dipenhydramine, both over the counter sleeping or allergy medicines, plus Spirituality (Gnosis or hugs). Combine that with lots of rest, a rich diet, and lots of quiet. Results are mixed because people stop feeling like working at a job, a mental problem caused by speed. They become very lazy.
Getting people off the drug and interested in something else (chess addiction?) is easy, but getting them to apply themselves and work is hard. Speed burns out motivational pathways. So, you need a quid-pro-quo approach wherein you do not get dinner until you clean up, and do not get TV until your homework is done. Lots of controlbecomes necessary, but when people use speed, they are asking to be controlled by others for years to get them over it.
Money and Wealth can be as addictive a drug as any to quit, and like love and food, you can never completely withdraw yet remain alive. Money addiction is called greed, and I have a page on it at NZ9F.com/Greed. Gambling casinos, as well as sports book and racetracks (all gambling) makes money on this addiction.
.

Love and Grace can be the toughest addiction to overcome. People get just as "high" on love as they do on cocaine or heroin, plus get just as addicted. Like money and food, love is something you need to survive, so you can never give this drug up completely. Run completely out of love, and you commit suicide. The process by which human love is formed, collected, transferred, stored, traded, and used to influence others is called Gnosis, or in the Orient is called Tantra. The page I wrote on this is called Gnosis Page, NZ9F.com/Gnosis, and I think it is the best article ever written on the topic in all of history. I periodically add updates. The medical term for the biological love process is "Spirituality", and this is a MEDICAL TERM, not the religious word! It refers to feeding your own blood or semen to others, secretly, in their food, which causes their love to flow to you, and enables you to hypnotize whoever eats it. DNA is the only drug that you give to other people in order for you to get high on it. Human DNA as a psychotropic drug is responsible for a hundred times more misery than all of the other drugs combined!
Conclusion
Governments and the secret mafia controllers of society secretly want people to use dope, so that any failure of those people can be blamed on dope, and not the unfair and corrupt way that society is organized. You did not succeed because you use marijuana, not because you and your family do not have a high enough ranking into the mob for you to get into a good profession.
