Good news that the San Diego Rescue Mission will get into being a women's shelter. We need additional space for battered women. And, it was such a failure at its previous mission of drug abuse abatement. Best wishes!

What I would like to do for a living is to be a Social Worker of a very unusual stripe, dealing with those too intelligent to believe the usual sort of bullshit. No-nonsense, educated people who need help. The high end and elite, the homeless intellectuals. Took one case last week.

July 22, 2011 - The problem with Comic-Con is that it is only 4 days. If it went 30 days, it would not sell out. I do not attend, because it is a huge, long, informercial for Warner Bros.

The wait for food at Father Joe Lunch has tripled, due to its being handed out very slowly. This creates long lines, even though there are fewer people wanting food. Reduces the ability to get second helpings, as the time limit gets reached.

One of the Genius Homeless Intellectuals, engineer Robert Sanchez designs recycling plants to make garbage into auto parts, machine parts, glass windows, fences, railings, bus shelters, doors, boxes, and more. He would like a grant from the City to develop a plan to make its garbage a cash asset, so that the City eventually gets paid money for its trash, collection included. He lives on the sidewalk, having been laid off due to Bush budget cuts, but has managed to establish a Nonprofit Org that does recycling. He is around, and permitting himself to be identified, but no personal contact info available.

Regarding the redevelopment of Balboa Park:

Mr. Jacobs is worthy of respect, both for his visions and his philanthropy. It is a shame that his wealth has him so out of touch with the real world of poverty. He obviously has a news media concept of same, the media giving the wealthy version of the poverty problem. I would like to see Mr. Jacobs save his fine ideas and money for more important things, such as helping San Diegans to survive long enough to be able to enjoy his park innovations. We have no business telling people overseas how to live when we have failed to deal with our homeless problem here. Likewise, we have no business developing San Diego for wealthy people until that issue is solved. Tearing down so-called "blighted" housing makes neighborhoods prettier, but at a cost of making residents whose housing was destroyed permanently homeless. A better strategy can and must be developed. I will publish ideas for same on my website at www.NZ9F.com, subject to space limitations, and my best suggestion (of many) was a tax on vacant real estate. July 19, 2011 - Hour and 20 minutes to cross the border. Nearly starved yesterday to attend the city council meeting at 6 pm. Flyers being passed out at Father Joe Lunch were from a study firm investigating schizophrenia, perhaps the most serious of all mental illnesses. I read it and commented that very few of us are schizophrenic, and was told by the worker that we were all schizophrenic. Makes me wonder how many normal people will become calledschizophrenic by the people running the study, and then miraculously "cured" by whatever drug or treatment they use. My experience is that there is nothing that works or ever has, whatsoever. All wasted time.

July 17, 2011 - Huge anger present in the homeless community, causing a lot of unrest. Police extremely brutal lately, plus lots of arrests for things that the police intentionally did to cause same.

July is always a bad month, and discovering that the police are intentionally causing some of our worst problems is not easy, either. I always knew there was corruption in society and government, and I have seen lots, but I did not know it was all as organized and extreme as it is. I do not want to believe the truth. Sound familiar?

We envision far fewer homeless than there are, because we would like to believe that, and wish it was true. We envision more honesty in government than exists, too. We need things to believe in. I usually try to find truth, in order to make sense out of something, but sometimes find too much truth.

The main reason that finding out the police are intentionally provoking violence upon the homeless is so unbelievable to me is that I have always believed in the police, and have been one, years ago. It leads to the conclusion that there is no solution except violence. If that is true, I do not want to know it. And, it means that all of my past, present, and future efforts are worthless.

So, will I protect my own belief system that the police are honest by ignoring the truth? By misinterpreting facts? By lying to myself and others? I now have the same problem as Water Man Dave Ross. He believes in the police too much. He has never been big on reality, however. I have a tougher problem, because I worship the truth, no matter how ugly.

When I saved funding for the Neil Good Center, I violated professional ethics which apply to psychology, religion, and journalism. A lot. So, I do not consider it a victory, at least not for me. It is a victory for the homeless, but at a cost of my ethics?

The intellectuals are slowly being bought off, too, one now has a job with the City, one has a free apartment, and another is now a paid volunteer working with the veterans. All okay for them, but it means less news, fewer meetings, poorer contact. It does give us insiders loyal to the cause, however.

July 15, 2011 - Operation Stand Down for veterans is today. Also reworked my Homeless 660 grad course on the Downtown Clean and Safe Page. (link). Took an hour and a half at 3:30 AM to cross the border, made more difficult by an agent named Keys. Complaints are not accepted by DHS, either. Mean border agents give all cops a bad name. I was very civil and nice, per usual, but even got made fun of and wisecracks from other border agents. We people with Alzheimer's Disease do not appreciate being mistreated.

July 14, 2011 - Trying to launch Page HS, Homeless Solutions. Cannot get enough computer time. New "Today's Thought" on Home Page. Television news on Home Page but not every night, only when there is news.

Reupert Murdoch, who contributes to this website, is in trouble in Great Britain for bugging telephones to see which stocks would be going up or down. He owns Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal, and part of the New York Stock Exchange. He already knows, as you should, that all stocks have been going down, adjusted for real inflation, the past ten years.

I even pick on friends, and pick on myself, too. My humor blog lampoons myself as bishop John Schlitz being interviewed by a religion reporter. The newsman asks "Where do we go when we die?" I respond, "Benny's Funeral Home, of course, where the two-for-one caskets deal expires this Friday!"
